BHMS is gearing up to shoot into the fight against the nation’s No. 1 killer – HEART DISEASE! During the month of February, we will host our annual HOOPS FOR HEART event during physical education classes for students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Students will be competing in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in their physical education class.

Hoops for Heart is a comprehensive, school-based fitness/education program that teaches the value of cardiovascular fitness to keep hearts healthy, while raising money for vital research to fight heart attacks and strokes. This event is sponsored by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the American Heart Association. Proceeds benefit the research, education, and community service program of the A.H.A. of Michigan. Hoops for Heart is done in conjunction with their fund raising efforts and gives them a chance to celebrate their efforts.

    Shop and Earn for Schools.jpg

Here are some easy ways to help raise funds for BHMS, just by signing up with some of the great community rewards programs below. Individually it may not seem like much, but collectively these programs can be a great source of funding for the school. Be sure to select BHMS as your donor school.

-Kroger Rewards: When you link your Kroger Card to BHMS, a percentage of your Kroger shopping will go to support the school.

-Target Take Charge of Education: Register your Target card to benefit BHMS. Through the Take Charge of Education program, Target donates an amount equal to 1% of Target Visa and Target Card (debit or credit) purchases made at Target and Target.com, and 1/2% of Target Visa purchases made elsewhere, to the eligible K-12 school of your choice. For some schools, the program generates over $10,000 a year! Currently, there are only 14 registered BHMS users. We know there are more of you out there who have Target Red Cards or who want to get one.

-Box Tops/Labels for Education – Clip those tops and labels and send them into the main office! If you have not done so, please register at www.btfe.com to earn box tops online or to see which retailers have box tops. Over 175 retailers give eBoxTops to your school when you shop them via the Box Tops for Education site! Thank you for your support!

-Office Depot 5% Program: Support BHMS by telling the cashier that you support Bloomfield Hills Middle School, or giving them the BHMS school code 70048915. You can also enter your invoice number online. When you do any of these, Office Depot will give BHMS 5% of purchase amount!
