Jacqueline El-Sayed - Biography
Jacqueline El-Sayed, Ph.D., of Bloomfield Township, is a professor of mechanical engineering at Kettering University. She has served as the elected leader of the faculty senate and a director of an educational center. In addition to teaching, she is currently focusing on strategic planning within the provost’s office.
As a four-time gubernatorial appointee to the Michigan Truck Safety Commission, Jacqueline is the commissioner representing all four year colleges and universities in the state. She was twice unanimously elected chair, nominated by the commanding officer of the Michigan State Police Traffic Safety Division. She has also chaired two committees for the Secretary of State to provide recommendations to improve traffic safety education, one of which resulted in the Driver’s Education Providers and Instructors Act of 2006.
Jacqueline was an ACE Fellow with the American Council on Education in Washington D.C. in 2008-2009, where she received intense professional development in the areas of administration including financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning. Jacqueline holds a PhD and MSE in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Missouri. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute.
She is married and has three children, two in Bloomfield Hills Schools and one BHS alumnus.
