There are two big events taking place this weekend for BHMS students. The Fall Festival and Make a Difference Day. Please read on for details on each event.
STUDENT FALL FESTIVAL: BHMS students in all grades are invited to join in on the Fall Festival Fun here at BHMS tomorrow, Friday, October 27, from 5 until 7 p.m. They can dance with the DJ, play sports, do crafts, play bingo and Kahoot, and more. And, while costumes are optional, those who wear them can enter the COSTUME CONTEST! Admission is $5 per student, which includes all of the above plus cider, donuts and all the fun the kids can have! In addition, for $1 per item students can purchase pizza slices, baked goods/snacks and water during the event (and you won't have to make dinner!)
You can still pre-purchase tickets for your student online, and they will be entered in a drawing for prizes. Didn't prepay? No worries! Your student can pay $5 at the door. Either way, the PTO is planning tons of fun and would love to see all of our BHMS students there. No siblings or outside guests, please. Please note that students should go home after school, sports, forensics, or clubs, and return at the 5 p.m. start time. They may not remain in the building unless they are pre-registered for Kidz Zone. Please make sure to pick your students up promptly at 7 p.m.
Volunteers are still needed. Adults, please click here to sign up. to work or donate items. Web Ambassadors who are interested in volunteering for community service, or anyone with questions about this event should e-mail Stacy Fox.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY: Bloomfield Hills School District Make a Difference Day is on Saturday, October 28, from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. This year the district is partnering with Cass Community Social Services for the Make a Difference Day project! This Detroit-based agency works across the city in areas of concentrated poverty providing programs for food, health services, housing, financial education, and job programs. The project will provide a meaningful opportunity for kids to have a very hands on component to community service. The location is 11745 Rosa Parks Blvd, Detroit, MI 48206.
After you've finished reading below about how to volunteer for Make a Difference Day, please take a minute to watch this fun and informative video made by BHMS students. The video explains the Cass Community Social Services "Tiny House Project". Here are ways to get involved:
• Volunteering: Students of all ages from the district will come together to provide help to the organization including food prep, yard work, making mud mats for resale etc. Please sign up by clicking here to attend the event. Bus transportation will be provided for $5 from BHMS. Space is limited so please indicate on the sign up if you would like to ride the bus or will have separate transportation. You may pay for the bus the day of the event, or on the PTO website E-store. Please also sign the attached permission slip and turn in at the bus, or drop it in the PTO mailbox no later than noon on October 27.
• Monetary Donations: Anyone who wishes to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to Cass Community Social Services and bring to school and put in the PTO mailbox or click here for the PTO E-store.
