Conant Elementary School

As an IB Primary Years Programme school, Conant Elementary “focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.” Our students participate in project-based learning that reflects the PYP philosophy of an integrated curriculum and incorporates 21st Century skills, global-mindedness, and the Common Core State Standards. We utilize inquiry-based instructional practices that build on children’s natural curiosity and encourage students to use critical thinking skills, reflect on their learning and compassionately develop solutions for real-world problems.

Conant School Mission

To foster inquiry and innovation while preparing active citizens to participate in a global community.

With the start-up of Math Pentathlon this fall, Conant is hosting a FREE Math Pentathlon Orientation Workshop!

All interested adults planning to attend this free workshop must register using the following link and the promo code "hosting": Generally these sessions cost attendees $15; however, thanks to parent Jas Mann, we have an opportunity to learn about Math Pentathlon and their games free of charge!

During these sessions adult participants learn about the program and how it can be implemented in schools, clubs, homes, etc. These training sessions start with an overview of the program. Participants then break out into grade level groups (K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7), known as divisions (I, II, II, and IV respectively), where they are introduced to each of the 5 games through active participation.

This training session will be held at Conant Elementary (4100 West Quarton) onOctober 10, 2014, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

We will start-up two Conant Math Pentathlon Teams (Grades K-3) after this training session.

Please direct your questions to Kathy Jakubiak, Dates and times for team meetings have yet to be determined; though, to ensure you are kept in the loop please email Kathy Jakubiak your name, child(ren)'s name(s), phone number, and email address. If you are able to join us on October 10, please register yourself for the FREE Math Pentathlon Workshop.

Injury Prevention from the 4th grade

As Justin Verlander wraps up spring training and prepares to pitch this season, three Conant Elementary students have some advice for him. “Always stretch out because if you don’t stretch, you could pull something. But don’t just stretch before. You have to make sure to do cool-down stretches, too. People forget to do that,” says Robert.
