New associate principals appointed by BHS Board of Education Print
ImageAndover and Lahser high schools are welcoming new administrators as associate principals. At its July 17 meeting, the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education appointed Jason Rubel as AP at Andover and Tracey Hall as AP at Lahser.

Jason joined BHS in 2001 as a social studies teacher and was named IB coordinator in 2005 to begin implementing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Andover. Jason also teaches assessment and curriculum courses at Oakland University’s newly-established International Baccalaureate Award program and a methods course for the MAT program. He is a board officer of the International Baccalaureate Schools of Michigan and is vice president for the MYP. Jason is also a BHS Diversity Champion, a Galileo leader and head of the social studies department at Andover.

Jason has a bachelor’s degree in history and kinesiology and a master’s degree in American history from Boston College. He is replacing former Andover associate principal Chris Delgado, who became principal at East Hills Middle School.

Tracey joins BHS from Renaissance High School in Detroit, a college prep school that emphasizes high academic achievement. At Renaissance, Tracey was responsible for curriculum implementation, staff appraisal, coordination of standardized testing, coordination of professional development and data analysis, and student discipline.

Her prior work experience includes serving as an English teacher at William S. Hart Union High School District in California and at Cody High School in Detroit, and as an education consultant for PLATO Learning Inc.

Tracey’s educational background includes a B.A. in English from California State University – Northridge and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia College. She is one of two new associate principals at Lahser replacing Mark Law, who retired, and Rob Durecka, who is the new Andover principal.

Among the responsibilities for Tracey and the previously appointed new associate principal at Lahser, Christine DiPilato, will be IB coordination activities for the Diploma Programme for grades 11 and 12 and the Middle Years Programme for grades 9 and 10.
