BHS INVITES COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WITH 2018 STRATEGIC PLAN Print
Bloomfield Hills Schools continues to offer the community methods to share input and become involved with its draft 10-year strategic plan, titled, Our Call to Action: Become a National Lighthouse District. A 30-day public comment period is open through Friday, Sept. 19. Anyone wishing to comment on and read the plan can go to http://StrategicPlan.bloomfield.org or the BHS web site at www.bloomfield.org and click on “Strategic Planning 2018”. A convenient comment box will direct input to the BHS community relations department, where it will be promptly shared with the board of education. In addition, residents may speak at public comment at the Sept. 18 board meeting at the Gary M. Doyle Center, 7275 Wing Lake Road in Bloomfield Township. Board meetings begin at 7 p.m.

In addition, the district is accepting applications for the four goal teams that will guide the practical development of the plan. The teams are Building Community Relationships, Lighthouse Curriculum, Financial Success and Facilities Master Plan. Most teams will meet monthly from September through June, with both daytime and evening meetings. The exception is the Facilities Master Plan team, which will meet eight to twelve times until December, then monthly thereafter.

Applications can be downloaded from the Strategic Planning page of the BHS web site at http://www.bloomfield.org/files/strategic_planning/SP_Goal_Team_Interest_Application.pdf, and obtained at the central administration building at 4175 Andover Road, Bloomfield Township or by phoning the BHS community relations department at 248-341-5424.

Appointments to serve will be based on these criteria: legal residence or employment in Bloomfield Hills Schools; the relationship between the applicant’s reasons for interest, the values and mission of BHS, and the specific charge and tasks of the team; the applicant’s assets, background, knowledge and skills as related to the specific charge and tasks of the team; the applicant’s willingness to attend the specified minimum number of meetings required; and the applicant’s willingness to support the values, mission and goals of the BHS strategic plan.

Applications must be returned for consideration by Friday, Sept. 5 to Edward Bretzlaff at Instructional Services, 7275 Wing Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, 48301, or by fax to 248-341-6349. Applicants will be notified of the results in writing.
