Cynthia von Oeyen - Biography Print
Cynthia von Oeyen of Bloomfield Hills has a long record of service to education and the Bloomfield Hills School District, where her two children graduated from Lahser and the International Academy. Mrs. Von Oeyen has held every office on the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education during her three terms; has been on the board of directors and the legislative committee of the Oakland County Schools Board Association; and has served on the Michigan Public Education Task Force, the Coalition of Michigan Parents, and the National School Board Association Federal Relations Network. In addition, she has participated in or chaired numerous initiatives impacting Bloomfield Hills Schools, including millage campaigns, school improvement committees and school financing petition drives.

Her community contributions include volunteering with the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition, the Women Officials Network, Bloomfield Township Senior Services, the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, the League of Women Voters, Lighthouse of Oakland County, and the March of Dimes, in addition to myriad PTO positions, including president of the PTO Council.

Mrs. Von Oeyen holds a bachelor of arts degree in music from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. She previously worked as an equity sales assistant at Morgan Stanley in New York and a corporate finance executive assistant at Salomon Brothers in Boston. She is married to Dr. Paul von Oeyen.
