  • Pete Bowers Attends State Broadcasting Meeting/Awards Banquet

    MAB's 65th Anniversary Annual Business Meeting Aug. 25-27

    WBFH Station Manager Pete Bowers attended the 65th Anniversary Annual Business Meeting of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters held at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island August 25-27. Bowers is on the Board of Directors of the MAB Foundation and Chair of the Broadcasting Career Builder Conference. Speakers at the General Session were Congressman John Dingell, Congresswoman Candice Miller and National Association of Broadcasters President/CEO Gordon Smith. Three broadcasters were inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame at the Awards Banquet: George Blaha (MSU Football and Detroit Pistons Basketball), Jim Brandstatter (U of M Football and Detroit Lions Football) and Susan Goldsen (Jackson Radio Works).

    The Biff aired a live broadcast from the Dream Cruise on Saturday, August 16, from 9-5 p.m. Air personalities from Motor City Static (Ron Wittebols, Chuck Riffenburg and Jeff Hazard) and WBFH students (Evan Brook, Evan Sacksner and Jonah Lopas) provided car-to-car coverage from the southeast corner of Square Lake Rd. and Woodward Ave., in front of the Rusty Bucket restaurant located on the original site of Ted's Restaurant.

    End-of-the-Year Radio Banquet Spotlights Seniors

    Seventy Biff students, managers and parents attended the annual end-of-the-year radio banquet, entitled Biff Bash, on May 21st at Glen Oaks Country Club in Farmington Hills. The "Biffet" dinner started at 7 p.m. followed by comments from WBFH Station Manager Pete Bowers. Operations Manager Ayman Alam showed the Year in Review, a slideshow of events that happened this school year. Bowers did his "Spotlight on Students" segment featuring all the WBFH Staff students by grade, especially the 10 graduating seniors. Assistant Manager/Technical Director Ron Wittebols gave a heartwarming speech about the value of working at the Biff for both the students and himself.
