  • East Hills Lip Dub 2013-2014 - "Happy"

    Posted June 13, 2014

On Tuesday, June 10, the entire East Hills School Community came together and performed a lip dub to the popular song, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Thank you to Mr. Medvinsky for bringing the concept to East Hills and a special thank you to all of our students and teachers for joining in the fun. It was a great experience and really brought the school community together. Here is the link to the lip dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AMeb4V8a78

  • Check Out The New Cavaliers Read to Succeed Summer Reading Website!

    Posted May 24, 2014

Fact: Kids who do not read over the summer lose two to three months of reading development while kids who do read tend to gain a month of reading proficiency. These losses are cumulative, creating a wider gap each year between more proficient students and less proficient students.

In order to prevent this loss and to assist parents in keeping their children engaged in reading over the summer, Catherine Young, Reading Specialist, has created the Cavaliers – READ to SUCCEED – Summer Reading website. This resource is packed full of fun and exciting summer reading ideas, websites, booklists, apps and more, for parents and their children. Simply click on the link and explore a variety of resources all summer long! http://ehmsreads.webs.com/

  • Summer Math Support Online Program TenMarks

    Posted June 13, 2014

Research shows that most students lose 2-3 months of grade level math equivalency over the summer. We are delighted to inform you about a free program offered by TenMarks Education that will provide your child with access to a powerful, personalized summer math program designed to help them reverse summer learning loss.

The program is called TenMarks Summer Math Program and here is how it works.

    1. Visit http://summer.tenmarks.com and sign up using our Summer Access Code: S14EHM4577.

    2. At the start of the program, your child will receive a short diagnostic assessment based on the grade s/he is entering this fall.

    3. The assessment will be automatically graded and TenMarks will create a personalized program, designed for your child to prepare for the upcoming year.

An hour a week is all it takes for your child to strengthen his/her math skills, and prepare for the year ahead. The TenMarks Summer Math Program will guide your child through their personalized program, one topic at a time, helping them refresh what they know, and learn what they do not. Each assignment contains embedded instruction (hints, video lessons, and interventions) to help your child. Attached is a flyer with more information.
