Model High School


The Model program was developed in 1990 in order to develop and manifest a philosophy that recognizes each child as a unique learner. Where each young adult is seen as an individual. Where students actively participate in the formation of their educational experience.

Students in grades 10-12 can select two, four or six classes at Model HS each semester, with the credits being applied to their Bloomfield Hills High School graduation requirements. Model is fully supported by the Board of Education and has received recognition from outside sources such as CNN.

  • Hip Hop in the Classroom

    Students at Model High School enjoyed a presentation by Dr. Emery Petchauer, a professor at Oakland University. Petchauer discussed hip hop culture and how it can apply to education. “We all learn in different ways, based on our own experiences, and hip-hop is probably the most important cultural phenomenon of the last half century,” Petchauer said.
