Becky Swain: Educator of the Year

Becky Swain, BHS PREP Program Director, was awarded Educator of the Year by VSA Michigan.

"We are so thankful for her continued support of students with disabilities," Pam Schoemer, Special Education Director, says.

In addition to Swain's award, many PREP students will be recognized. "Several PREP students were invited to attend the MI Youth Arts Festival in May," Swain shares. "They will be showcasing the short film they are producing through our VSA Artist in Residence Program."

VSA is a state organization that strives to create an inclusive society where people with disabilities participate in, learn through, excel in, and enjoy the arts.

Each year, VSA Michigan recognizes educators and teaching artists by selecting an Educator of the Year. Educators, students, parents, families and community members are asked to nominate an individual they feel has made a significant contribution to arts education by facilitating and promoting creative power in people with disabilities.
