BHMS, EHMS, WHMS and IA were visited by Ji-Li Juang, the author of Red Scarf Girl on May 13-14, 2013. BHMS 7th graders, had just finished reading the book and were excited to meet the author.

The 2nd annual writing contest, hosted by the Muslim Parents of Bloomfield Hills, selected Miles Eichenhorn, a student in Mr. Honeyman's English class, as the top 8th grade essay writer from West Hills Middle School!

Teachers at Way Elementary got a BIG surprise from the parent community on Monday, May 20th. As a “thank you” to the teachers, the PTO partnered with 3:00am Design, Sherwin Williams, and Studio Painting to completely transform the staff lounge.

Congratulations to each of our Bloomfield Hills Green Schools! These schools have applied and met the requirements set forth by the Michigan State Legislature in Public Act 301 (2010) to achieve Official Michigan Green School status for the 2012 - 2013 academic year.

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) recently awarded its Rudolph Heino Scholarship to 12 local high schools seniors at a reception on May 9. This one-time $1,000 scholarship is bestowed to members based on academic performance, community involvement and embodiment of the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”

The Bloomfield Hills School's recipients of the Rudolph Heino Scholarship are: Marisa Tucci-Berube from Andover and John Fortuna Jr. from Lahser.

On Friday, May 3, Conant held an assembly promoting an anti-bullying message.AMP Radio 98.7 provided the music; and Elijah J., who starred in the Lion King on Broadway, danced and sang and talked to the students about his experiences with bullying.

It’s that time of year again. Parents of high school seniors start picturing empty bedrooms, middle school students anticipate the high school halls, and preschool parents wonder, “is my child ready for kindergarten?”

The definitions of “ready” seem to be all over the map when it comes to kindergarten. So, we decided to ask the experts, the teachers. We sat down with a group of kindergarten teachers from Bloomfield Hills Schools and asked them what they’d like parents to know and do.

The second Annual Mind over Matter walk for Brain Cancer research will be held May 19th at Bloomfield Hills Middle School at 9 a.m. Started by Lahser junior Mary Pilibosian and this year joined by her sister Susan, the girls hope to raise over $10000 to fund the development of a National Registry based out of Vanderbilt University. The registry will help measure and improve the clinical outcomes of patients with brain tumors.

The Bloomfield Baseball League announces that our girls softball league has moved to the Spring to provide more instructional opportunities and development for our players.

Pinto, Mustang and Bronco divisions (grades 1-6) will play from April 21-June 15. Pony division will play from June 1-July 14.
