Academics

The Bloomfield Hills Board of Education has adopted the Michigan State Core Curriculum. These standards and benchmarks are in alignment with national criteria developed by organizations such as the National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics and the National Science Foundation.

Middle school curriculum focuses on the basic skills of reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. Instructional goals are targeted to meet the interests, strengths and the physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth of individuals.

Core academic instruction is designed and delivered by teams of specialists in a flexible block schedule format. The IB Learner Profile serves as a platform upon which instruction is designed.

High academic expectations and time to explore new areas are essential components of an optimal elementary to high school transitional experience.
