Way Elementary School

Belief sets are at play in every school. Some refer to it as a vision, others to a mission. Setting aside outdated educational practices of the past, at Way Elementary we nurture a culture of thinking and compassion by embracing the Visible Thinking framework.

In This We Believe at Way Elementary

  • Focusing students on the learning vs. the work
  • Teaching for understanding vs. mere knowledge
  • Encouraging deep vs. surface learning strategies
  • Promoting independence vs. dependence
  • Developing a growth vs. fixed mindset

  • Book Drive for Lincoln Elementary

    Posted October 23, 2014

The second-grade classes, along with the Way PTO, are starting a service project and would love the help of the entire school. Our plan is for Way School to donate books to Lincoln Elementary School in Warren. Money donated by each grade level will be used to purchase books for the corresponding grade level at Lincoln Elementary. Our hope is for as many students as possible to find some way to earn two dollars at home to donate toward the purchase of the books. Students may do chores or other tasks to earn the money. Anyone who wishes to participate will have until Monday, November 3, to bring the money to school. Once the books are purchased, students will be given the opportunity to write a positive message in the books. We’re looking forward to helping another school continue to encourage a love for reading in its students.

  • Computer and Electronic Recycling Day

    November 19, 2014 - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    Posted October 29, 2014

Have an old computer or other electronic that is unused and in your way? Bring it with you to parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday, November 19 or drop it off in the outdoor bin from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The students at Way Elementary want you to collect those old electronics and help our school. Our Way community has an inexpensive opportunity to safely and properly dispose of computers and small electronics. Computer Recyclers, a Michigan firm, works with many other schools and non-profits. They will collect our product at no charge. They also guarantee that no component will end up in a landfill and all personal information will be destroyed. This firm works with many other schools and non-profits and will collect our product at no charge to the district. Support our “Green “ efforts and keep e-waste out of landfills. GO GREEN!
