Alumni Spotlight: Andriana Nicoghosian Receives Art Honor

Congratulations to former Bloomfield Hills Schools student Andriana Nicoghosian! Nicoghosian’s piece, “Vertebrae Ring,” was one of the works in their 3D Art senior year portfolio that explored forms and textures found in stones and bones, and it was selected to be a part of the 2024 AP Art and Design Exhibit. Nicoghosian graduated from BHHS and also won the prestigious Robert CJ Traub Memorial scholarship for Art in 2024.

The AP Art and Design virtual exhibit showcases 48 high school artists from five countries, selected from over 80,000 portfolios. These students' works are outstanding examples of original art based on personal ideas and experiences. The exhibit not only highlights the rigor and excellence of the AP Art and Design portfolio but also serves as a valuable teaching tool for AP Art and Design students worldwide. Last year's exhibit attracted over 250,000 views, making it a popular platform for viewing high school student art.

Bloomfield Hills Schools reached out to Nicoghosian to learn a little about how BHHS influenced the artist.

BHS: How did your interactions with teachers/staff and/or peers shape you as an artist and as a person?

Nicoghosian: The support from all of the art teachers at BHHS shaped my whole attitude towards the creative process. My teachers guided me through all the steps of each subject I took, whether it was drawing, ceramics, painting, or graphic design. I knew I could always ask for advice and get constructive feedback from any of them. I carry this confidence in asking for help and striving to be better now in my studies at college.

BHS: Looking back, what advice would you give current students to help them achieve success in their future endeavors?

Nicoghosian: I would advise current students to keep pursuing what they enjoy and to always strive to better themselves. Opportunities for improvement are endless, and it is important to continue to learn even after creating something you like.

BHS: Please share a bit about yourself and what you are doing now.

Nicoghosian: I am currently a freshman at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where I am studying fashion accessories design. I look forward to continuing my education and gaining industry experience after graduation.
