BHHS Students Named Semifinalists in Coca-Cola Scholars Program

Bloomfield Hills Schools is excited to announce that two of our BHHS students were named semifinalists in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. The program had 107,000 applicants, and only 1,237 high school students were chosen to be named semifinalists. Huge congratulations to BHHS grade 12 students, Kathryn Ho and Katie Tadesse for being chosen for this honor. Ho and Tadesse’s outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community is inspiring! 

As a joint effort of Coca-Cola bottlers across the country and The Coca-Cola Company, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States. With the addition of the 2026 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided 7,200+ Coke Scholars nationwide with $90 million+ in scholarships since 1986.

Post graduation, both Ho and Tadesse have ambitious goals. Ho plans to study business with a focus on finance and social impact, and said, “I’m excited to keep learning from new perspectives and to find ways to use what I learn to create lasting, positive change in my community.” Tadesse hopes to study public health, biochemistry, and Spanish in college, with the ultimate goal of attending medical school and becoming an emergency medicine physician. Tadesse has always wanted to make an impact on the world, and is excited to take on new challenges in the next chapter of life. 

Ho and Tadesse are currently submitting their phase two applications which include essays, a transcript, and a recommendation. These applications will be reviewed by an independent selection committee who will recommend 250 Regional Finalists in early January to take part in online interviews. BHS wishes these outstanding students the best of luck in their next steps.

We are pleased to share that Ho has been selected as a Regional Finalists. In February, Ho will be notified if she has been selected as a Finalist.
