BHHS Students Win Prestigious College Board National Recognition
The College Board National Recognition recently announced their 2024 scholars, and the following grade 12 Bloomfield Hills High School students were recognized: Emmanuel Adewumi, Alexis Albert, and Gabriela (“ChoCho”) Yi. The National Recognition program highlights students who, in 10th and 11th grades, perform well on standardized tests including the SAT, AP exams, and have strong GPAs; and identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native.
Students were notified about their awards through an email from the College Board. Yi noted, “The process involved lots of time spent with the College Board. They looked at different test scores, and also demographic information. Winning this award means, for me, being a role model for others in the Hispanic and Indigenous communities. I think that being someone for others to look up to is my biggest motivation for achievement.” Albert added, “I feel like I often underestimate how hard I work, so to get recognized like this felt like a big accomplishment for me.”
Principal Dan Hartley expressed, “"We are extremely proud of the remarkable achievement of these students in becoming National Recognition scholars. Their dedication to excellence, perseverance in learning, and the embodiment of our school's commitment to academic excellence and personal growth embody what it means to be a Black Hawk."
Many congratulations to Adewumi, Albert, and Yi for their exceptional academic achievements!
