BHHS Traub & Reszka Scholarship Awards

BHHS Traub & Reszka Scholarship Awards

Bloomfield Hills Schools is proud to celebrate two meaningful scholarship opportunities that reflect our longstanding commitment to the arts and to the students whose creativity and expression enrich our schools and community.

For more than 60 years, the Robert C.J. Traub Scholarship has been a cherished part of Bloomfield Hills Schools’ culture. Established through a generous gift in honor of Robert C. J. Traub, the scholarship recognizes Traub’s deep love of art and music. Held in trust and continuing in perpetuity, the Traub Scholarship has supported more than 200 Bloomfield Hills High School students since its inception.

Beginning this year, Bloomfield Hills Schools is honored to introduce the L.M. Reszka Memorial Scholarship, a new endowed scholarship created to continue in perpetuity and further support artistic excellence and cultural enrichment. Established through a generous gift, this scholarship reflects the belief that art and music are essential to a well-rounded education and a vibrant, connected community.

Each scholarship is designed to award one art student and one music student, creating two recipients per scholarship fund; however, one student, Ellamarie Gordhamer, made history by being chosen to receive the Traub scholarship for music and the Reska scholarship for art. This extraordinary opportunity enables the recipients to travel abroad and experience the rich cultural heritage and history of European countries. Past recipients share that these experiences deepen their understanding of their discipline and strengthen their appreciation for the arts in lasting ways. Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients!

The selected students and the other grade 12 nominees went through a rigorous adjudication process. Two separate panels, made up of BHHS art and music teachers plus guest judges, selected the winners and alternates based on portfolios, performances, resumes, essays, and interviews. We look forward to reading the recipients' reflections when they return from their trips.
