Flag Football
The girls flag football team turned its inaugural season into one the school and community will remember for years to come. After capturing their division championship, the Black Hawks earned a coveted invitation to Ford Field as one of only 15 teams selected from more than 80 programs across the state of Michigan.
In their opening round matchup, the Black Hawks delivered a dominant performance, defeating Warren Woods 34-0 to advance to the final eight. Their remarkable postseason run ultimately ended in the state quarterfinals with a hard-fought 18-9 loss to Goodrich.
Once the final flag was pulled, BHHS had finished its first season ranked sixth out of more than 80 teams statewide, an extraordinary accomplishment for a first-year program! The Black Hawks established themselves as division champions, state quarterfinalists, and one of Michigan’s premier girls flag football programs. More importantly, they laid the foundation for an exciting future at Bloomfield Hills High School.
Lacrosse
Girls Lacrosse made it to the state semi-finals, winning the regional championship. The team earned the following awards:
First all-state - Brooke Sanders (grade 12) and Molly Rubel (grade 11)
Second team - Solei Ewing (grade 12)
Third team - Julianna Socha (grade 9)
Honorable mention - Lainey Stewart (grade 12)
The team won the OAA Red League, and received five all-league awardees - Solei Ewing, Brooke Sanders, Molly Rubel, Julianna Socha, and Lainey Stewart and one all-American awardee, Solei Ewing.
Softball
The softball team captured its fourth straight district title with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Rochester Adams. The Black Hawks were down 1-0 the entire game going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Avery Howland (grade 12) led off with a double off the wall. Then, down to the last out of the season, Lola McMurtrie (grade 11) battled for a clutch hit to tie up the game. The Black Hawks loaded the bases in the next inning and Howland came through with the game-winning hit to deliver the district championship! Cameron Howland (grade 9) was phenomenal in the circle, pitching all eight innings for Bloomfield, striking out nine and only giving up four hits on the day.
