A Picture-Perfect Evening for the BHHS Wellness Center Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Bloomfield Hills Schools community gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new BHHS Wellness Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony and Black Hawks football community night. 

The event kicked off with lively music from the marching band and an energetic performance from the dance team. Superintendent Rick West addressed the audience discussing the connection between wellness and our district’s vision, “Belong Here, Excel Anywhere.” West remarked, “The Wellness Center provides a welcoming place where all students can focus on health, strength, and personal growth during the school day, while also serving as a hub for athletic development after school. Whether training with teammates or working toward individual goals, students gain the confidence and resilience that will carry them far beyond high school.” 

School Board Treasurer Paul Kolin expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for passing the historic bond which made this project, along with numerous other improvements across the district, possible. Kolin also commended the athletic and facilities departments, and the administration for their diligent work in creating the state-of-the-art facilities. Kolin also gave special thanks to the student athletes who he described as “the heart of the program.”

Following the ribbon cutting, families toured the new wellness center with student athlete guides, enjoyed ice cream, face painting, temporary tattoos, and a climbing wall hosted by BHHS PTO and Oakland Parks. Students also participated in spirited flag football games, sponsored by Coach Genevieve and SNAPtivities, before cheering on the Black Hawks football team against Seaholm High School.
