Announcing 2026 National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Students

Bloomfield Hills Schools is proud to congratulate six grade 12 students from Bloomfield Hills High School and two grade 12 students from the International Academy who received Semifinalist status from the National Merit Scholarship Program. In addition, nine BHHS students received commendations from the organization.

In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only about 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists. The 2025 PSAT/NMSQT served as an initial screen of over 1.2 million entrants to the National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million that will be offered next Spring.
