BHHS Student Leadership Receives Highest Honor at State Conference
The BHHS Student Leadership was honored to attend the 2025 MASC/MAHS Student Leadership State Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, February 22 to 24.
This memorable experience for high school leaders promotes an opportunity for students to attend mixers with other leaders from all across Michigan. They attend meetings, structured activities, discuss service projects, showcase presentations, hear from motivational speakers, and enjoy dinner, an awards banquet, and a dance. This is an opportunity to reflect and create inspirational ideas to bring back to BHHS.
The BHHS student leadership team received the following nominations and awards at the state conference:
Award of Excellence - Bloomfield Hills High School
The Award of Excellence is the highest honor that a member organization can earn from MASC/MAHS Michigan Student Leadership. Groups that receive this award exemplify the highest standards of organization, member development, community-minded service and goal-oriented vision for their programs.
Exceptional Service Project - Bring Your Own Dog
The MASC/MAHS Exceptional Service Project Award is an opportunity for all of our member schools to showcase a service project they have completed. Bring Your Own Dog is an annual event that partners with Happy Paws Haven animal rescue and hosts a pop-up dog park in Franklin, MI. Participants bring their dogs for a fun-filled day complete with food trucks, crafts, animal adoptions, and more.
STAR School Award - Bloomfield Hills High School
This award was designed to show a combined student leadership effort throughout the student body. This school goes above and beyond by designing, creating, and hosting events, attending leadership conferences and having members represent their school on the leadership State Board of Delegates.
Unsung Hero Award - Sarah Linn
Sarah Linn received this award because she goes above and beyond to create a welcoming environment and memorable high school experiences for her school community, and never seeks recognition or public accolades. Linn works hard in every venture and is constantly seeking ways to support fellow leaders.
Tonya Charity Award - Bloomfield Hills High School
This award honors the school that has the greatest philanthropy effort for the MASC/MAHS Michigan Student Leadership Charity of the Year. This year’s charity was Camp Kesem, which supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer with free camp, fun-filled programs, community, and resources.
Congratulations to each of the students involved, as well as Student Leadership advisors, Krista Laliberte and Rachel Matz, Lead 9 advisors, Kate Barnes and Megan Minielly, and Jessica Lupone for overseeing student activities.
