BHS Foundation Annual Prize Patrol Surprises Classrooms

Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation Board members recently announced the recipients of the 2022-2023 BHSF grants by visiting schools and surprising winners with the good news! Giant checks created smiles from school to school. The Foundation is proud to support so many unique and creative learning opportunities for our educators, administrators, and students. The BHSF approved 31 of the 52 grants requested, granting over $22,000.

BHS Foundation President Mary Ellen Miller shares, “Seeing the smiles on the faces of the winners boosts your day and reminds you how important it is to give back to the community. I'm so impressed with our staff and especially those who have these great ideas we are able to fund.” The BHSF Grant Selection Committee uses a rubric and consults with the Learning Services Team to rate, rank, and prioritize the grants that will be approved.

BHSF Vice President and BHS alumna Christine Tang shares, “Awarding grants is bittersweet for me. I'm inspired by all of the creativity and ingenuity of our teachers. But it is always hard, trying to weigh the merits of one grant over another. I wish that we could fulfill them all. We are limited by the amount of donations we’ve received. The more donations we get, the more grants we can approve in the next grant cycle.”

The Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, and its sole purpose is to enrich and enhance learning in Bloomfield Hills Schools. The Foundation accepts and appreciates donations of any size. Most donations are earmarked “greatest need,” and will be used at the discretion of the Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation. Each donor can also focus their giving on a particular category like Academics, Arts, Special Education, and more!  To learn more or to make a donation, visit bloomfield.org/support.  For large gifts to a particular program, reach out to a Foundation Board member or email bhsfoundation@bloomfield.org.

Many congratulations to all of the winners, and thank you to the many BHS community members whose donations to the Foundation made these grants possible!
