BHS Welcomes New School Resource Officers

While we are sad to see Officer Marisa Miller and Officer Kelly McGraw leave the SRO position in our district, we are excited for them as they advance in their careers. We are also thrilled to introduce Officer Jennifer Lower and Officer Thomas Riney as the newest additions to the BHS team for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. These dedicated professionals will serve as school resource officers and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Officer Lower brings a wealth of experience to our district, having been a valued member of the Bloomfield Township Police Department since 2002 including her role as the Peer Support Coordinator and Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Lower is passionate about being a positive role model for students and making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Officer Riney has accumulated more than 17 years of experience in various departments. His previous roles as a road patrol officer, field training officer, special investigations unit officer, and Michigan State Police Narcotics task force officer have equipped him with a diverse skill set that will greatly contribute to the district’s safety and security efforts. Riney strongly believes that his assignment at Bloomfield Hills Schools will be immensely rewarding, as he is committed to ensuring that students and teachers feel safe to learn.

Riney and Lower will collaborate closely with our administration and teachers to implement comprehensive safety and security training programs. By maintaining a vigilant presence in all our schools and properties, they will foster a secure environment that allows students and staff to thrive academically.

We are confident that Officer Lower and Officer Riney will quickly become familiar faces in the hallways of Bloomfield Hills Schools. Their professionalism, expertise, and genuine commitment to our students' well-being will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our district. We look forward to the upcoming school year and the valuable contributions they will make to our school community.
