Black Hawk Fever Showcases BHHS Athletes
Black Hawk Fever, held at Bloomfield Hills High School, brought Bloomfield families together to celebrate community and athletics! Patsy Bugajewski and Debbie Guettler, Co-Presidents of the Bloomfield Boosters, organized this dynamic event that included kid-friendly activities, games, basketball, food, entertainment, and high school athlete autographs.
A new feature of the event this year was the Black Hawk Games; 22 mini-competitions were organized by BHHS Varsity athletes to engage younger students and hopefully spark interest in sports! Kids marked off a scorecard and received points for each completed game. Students had fun throwing footballs into a target, putting golf balls, spiking volleyballs, smashing baseballs, and seeing how many push-ups they could do, amongst other activities. Winners from each grade level, Kindergarten to 8th grade, were awarded prizes. While students were participating in the games, their parents had the opportunity to ask the athletes questions and learn about participation in high school sports.
The schedule of events was well organized. The BHHS Unified and the Boys JV basketball teams played against Troy, then the Girls Varsity team competed against Harper Woods with a high-energy halftime performance by the Varsity and JV Dance teams. The Boys Varsity Basketball team finished out the evening with their game and a halftime high flying performance from the Pistons Flight Crew. The organizers wish to thank all of the dedicated volunteers for their time and enthusiasm. The event could not have been as incredible without the high school student athletes, their parents and boosters, and the athletic staff and coaches.
