Bloomfield Hills Schools Students Make A Difference
Each year, the Bloomfield Hills Schools Parent-Teacher Organization Council partners with a local organization for Make a Difference Day, which is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of October. This year’s partnership with Humble Design in Pontiac focused on assisting in the effort to end homelessness. This past Saturday morning, over 100 Bloomfield Hills Schools students from all grade levels volunteered in person at the Humble Design Warehouse located in Pontiac. Volunteers had options to assemble doll houses and toddler beds; make fleece pillows; sort Legos; create paper crafts, watercolors, and canvas paintings as home decorations; sand and prime furniture; organize drawer pulls and knobs; and measure and organize rugs. The activities allowed students of every grade level to have multiple age-appropriate options, and allowed each student to feel they made a difference through their contributions.
In addition to the in-person volunteering opportunity, families across BHS donated $4,204, not counting the items that were purchased from the Amazon wish list. If you would like to financially donate to Humble Design to further assist in the effort to end homelessness, donate here.
