Bloomfield Hills Schools Support Our Communities In This Season Of Giving

Across Bloomfield Hills Schools, students, staff, and families are getting into the spirit of giving, with a variety of community service efforts.

  • Conant Elementary students and families went to Beaumont Royal Oak to light up the night for Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams.
  • Eastover Elementary students in grade 4 initiated a food drive for Lighthouse, which works to alleviate hunger and poverty in local communities.
  • Lone Pine Elementary School collected toys to benefit the children and families at Judson Center, and fifth grade students made blankets for the Michigan Animal Rescue League.
  • Way Elementary is helping to combat homelessness by organizing a collection drive for Humble Design.
  • North Hills Middle School raised money during school concerts through bake sales for the Black Hawk Fund, which provides financial assistance to families within their school for various events, like field trips. Student Ambassadors made posters to advertise the concerts and bake sales.
  • South Hills Middle School recently hosted a food drive, and raised money and made fleece blankets for the Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control.
  • Bloomfield Hills High School students made blankets to benefit Happy Paws Haven through the Student Leadership team.
  • International Academy has been sending several grade 11 and 12 students to Eastover multiple times a week as part of their Service As Action project. IA students work directly with the elementary students, and also help teachers with projects or class preparations.
  • Multiple schools are pooling resources to provide gift cards for families in need within our school community.

Schools also hosted fun spirit week activities and pajama days to raise money for various non-profits. With initiatives like these, students in our schools are learning from a young age how to give back to their communities, and how to take action.
