2020 Bond & 2025 Sinking Fund Update: Summer 2026

Through careful planning and responsible stewardship of voter approved funds, Bloomfield Hills Schools is addressing essential infrastructure needs, enhancing safety and security systems, and strategically investing in technology that supports teaching and learning. Below is a plan for Summer 2026 using money from the Sinking Fund 2025 and Bond 2020 to improve schools across our district.

Eastover Elementary School & Transportation

This summer, Eastover will undergo major parking lot construction. The scope of work is extensive and includes the installation of a township-required retention system. Due to the scale of the project, the entire lower parking lot will be closed for the duration of construction, which is expected to last throughout the summer.

In addition to the parking lot improvements, sections of sidewalk at the top of the Eastover campus will be replaced, and the Eastover Fieldhouse will receive a new mechanical unit and will have the gym floors refinished, as part of ongoing facility upgrades.

As well, the transportation center will be closed this summer for an expansion of the bus service bays, upgrades to the bus wash, and interior office enhancements. 

As a result of these projects: 

• The baseball fields will be offline from June 13th through Labor Day. 
• Any events scheduled at the Eastover Field House during the summer will use the front parking lot. Attendees will need to enter the building and walk through the school to access the field house.

While minimal programming will take place in the field house, we ask the public to avoid visiting Eastover Elementary School and utilizing the parking facilities this summer.

Conant Elementary School

This summer, Conant will see several improvements designed to enhance safety, security, and functionality across the site. 

The most significant upgrade involves reconfiguring the parking lot to improve traffic flow and safety during arrival and dismissal, adding additional parking lot lighting to increase security, and expanding and improving the sidewalk network to better support pedestrian safety. 

The work also includes replacing the asphalt surface in the playground area, upgrading the preschool exterior door to improve both security and energy efficiency, and converting the STEAM lab bathroom into additional storage space to better support instructional needs.

As a result of this work, Conant Elementary School will be closed to the public this summer. 

Way Elementary School

This summer at Way Elementary, several important facility improvements will take place to enhance safety, accessibility, and long-term building protection. Planned work includes upgrades to the sidewalk network to improve accessibility and support safer movement throughout the site for students, staff, and visitors. In addition, site and building drainage improvements will be completed to help address water-related concerns and better protect the facility from future moisture-related issues. 

Lone Pine Elementary School

The Lone Pine Fieldhouse will receive a new mechanical unit as part of ongoing facility upgrades, and will have the gym floors refinished.

South Hills Middle School

This summer at South Hills Middle School, several construction and improvement projects will take place to enhance the functionality, sustainability, and long-term maintenance of the campus. Work includes stormwater improvements at Chalmers Lake to strengthen water management systems and support environmental compliance. The project also includes upgrades in the courtyard to increase year-round usability while reducing ongoing maintenance needs. In addition, select roof areas will be replaced to ensure continued building integrity and performance. 

Bloomfield Hills High School

This summer, Bloomfield Hills High School will undergo several facility improvement projects designed to enhance safety, maintain our facilities, and support high-quality learning and athletic environments.

A secure vestibule will be installed at the Andover entrance to improve building security. Access through this entrance will be limited for much of the summer while construction is underway, with the vestibule expected to be fully operational by the start of the school year.

The tennis courts will also be resurfaced to provide safe and consistent playing conditions. As a result, the courts will be closed from June 17 through July 17 during construction, which may change depending on weather. 

In addition, bond-funded renovations in G Wing will continue throughout the summer, and select roof areas at BHHS will be replaced as part of ongoing facility maintenance efforts.

Technology Update

This year’s technology investments are focused on strengthening instruction, communication, safety, and operational efficiency across the district. These improvements include updated staff technology and refreshed devices for Bloomin’ Preschool classrooms and staff, as well as a student device refresh for DK–5th grade, providing a combination of iPads and Chromebooks to support learning across grade levels. 

Building-based improvements include a range of audiovisual and infrastructure upgrades, such as enhanced digital signage at Bloomfield Hills High School, auditorium AV enhancements, and audio system upgrades in the auxiliary gym, main gym, and pool area. Similar AV improvements will also be made at Eastover and Lone Pine Elementary Schools in cafeterias and media centers, security camera upgrades at the IA, along with conference room upgrades, datacenter storage and backup system improvements, and re-cabling work at Booth. 

Please note that the BHHS Auditorium will be offline during the AV upgrades throughout the summer.

Districtwide network upgrades, including updated switches and access points, will further support connectivity and instructional initiatives. Additional technology investments include a firewall upgrade, expanded access control systems, and additional security cameras to strengthen overall building safety and security.
