Bond Update 8.21.24
As we embark on the new school year, we're excited about the improvements coming to our schools through the 2020 Bond construction projects. During the transition from significant summer construction and facility upgrades to the start of the school year, we ask for your patience and understanding as this work will often cause some temporary minor disruptions. There may be a few bumps along the way, but these efforts will lead to a better learning environment for our students.
Updates:
As you drive by Lone Pine and Eastover, you will see construction crews working diligently on the secure vestibules and entrances. While the vast majority of the work on the front entrances will be completed by the first day of school, there will be some ongoing work throughout the first several weeks of school. Beginning on the first day of school, visitors to both Lone Pine and Eastover will be able to enter through the front entrances and the day-to-day operations of the schools will not be impacted.
Thanks to our voters who passed our sinking fund, both Eastover and Way have roofing projects taking place this summer. Both are expected to be completed by the first day of school, however, depending on weather and roof conditions, some roofing work may carry over into the school year at Way. If any roofing work takes place during the school year, it will happen outside of the school day to limit any interruptions to student learning.
Here is an update on the elementary bond work slated for this summer (phase 2):
- Completed data infrastructure (cabling).
- Completed classroom audio and visual (ADA compliant interactive learning wall / front of classroom, sound systems, etc,).
- Installed, with final configurations underway: public address / notification systems (clocks, paging throughout the building, emergency notification), access control, video surveillance.
- New furniture has been installed in learning spaces.
- Completed lighting at Eastover, Conant, and Lone Pine. Lighting projects will continue at Way throughout the first several weeks of school, however, this work will take place outside of school hours so as to not impact the school day.
Please note that phase 3 of the elementary bond work will take place next summer, which will include additional improvements including cabinetry, flooring, and paint.
Construction on the BHHS wellness center will continue throughout the 2024-25 school year. BHHS concessions will be relocated to a temporary solution for athletic games and spectators will be utilizing the restrooms indoors. The parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts will also remain closed throughout construction. As construction on the wellness center takes place throughout the year, please be prepared for intermittent disruptions to this portion of BHHS.
The early childhood program that operated out of the Bloomin’ Preschool at Fox Hills (1661 Hunters Ridge Drive) has relocated to the newly renovated Bloomin' East (1101 Westview Road). The Fox Hills location will be demolished in late 2024. Please join us at the following event:
