Boys Tennis Individuals Win State Championships; Team Finishes Close 2nd
The BHHS Boys Tennis Team can claim five state champions! Ranked first in the state for most of the year, the players demonstrated their continued dominance at the 2021 Division 1 State Finals. Overall, the team finished just four points out of first place to Troy High.
Eight team members qualified for the second day of the state tournament, and five fought through some of the best competitors in the state to capture first place honors. Finishing as state champions:
- Daniel Stojanov (grade 11), #2 Singles (6-0, 6-0 over Troy High)
- Pierce Shaya (grade 9), #3 Singles (6-1, 6-1 over Ann Arbor Pioneer)
- Aaron Rose (grade 10), #4 Singles (6-2, 6-2 over Troy High)
- Ethan Endelman (grade 10) and Dominic Pascarella (grade 9), #4 doubles (5-7, 6-4, 6-4 over Troy High)
At number one singles, Noah Roslin (grade 12) advanced steadily through the bracket, finally dropping in the semifinals to the eventual state champ (6-7(6), 6-0, 7-5 to Northville). In the doubles brackets, Merrick Chernett (grade 10) and Toni Vasile at (grade 11) at #1 Doubles, Michael Dillon (grade 10) and Ryan Rose (grade 10) at #2 Doubles, and Drew Davis (grade 11) and Kierth Lingam (grade 10) at #3 Doubles won matches but eventually succumbed to the fierce play by the other teams.
The Boys Tennis Team also finished first in the League and Regionals. Congratulations on a wonderful season and well-deserved victories!
