Celebrate Spring at Bowers Farm!
Spring has arrived, and that means Bowers Farm is abuzz! The first Open Barn day welcomed members and non-members alike to participate in all that the farm has to offer. This year, their opening weekend placed a special emphasis on composting, including a feature film entitled “Kiss the Ground," an example of how to compost using a 3-bucket system in your own backyard, and free take-home bags of compost.
Visitors also had the chance to experience tractor rides, brushing the ponies, saying hello to the pig, goats, and chickens, and watching the students from 4-H prepare their animals for the competitive shows in Hartford, MI that weekend.
The farm store was also open. The store offers fresh produce and meat, prepared foods, and fun toys and treats, like stuffed animals, children’s books, and ice cream! Store hours will likely change once school is out of session; for now it is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Open Barn hours are Fridays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check the Bowers Farm website for more details and updates.
