Congratulations to the following Bloomfield Hills Schools students who have been selected as members of the 2022 Michigan School Band and Orchestra All-State Ensembles.
At the high school level, the following students were selected:
Isabella Ashtari, Grade 12 - Harp, High School Orchestra
Jonathan Shi, Grade 12 - Violin, High School Orchestra
Henry Jackson, Grade 11 - Violin, High School Orchestra
Minglu Jiang, Grade 11 - Bass, High School Orchestra
Jimin Lee, Grade 12 - Flute, High School Band
Alexander Yen, Grade 12 - Violin, High School Orchestra
Michael Chen, Grade 12 - Oboe, All-State High School Band
Nikolas Simon, Grade 9 - Violin, All-State Orchestra
Dylan Young, Grade 12 - Trombone, All-State
At the middle school level, the following student was selected for All-State Band:
Ashton Oglesby, Grade 8 at East Hills Middle School - Trumpet
These students have been chosen through a blind audition process as some of the finest musicians in the state of Michigan. More than 1,500 students throughout Michigan auditioned for a position in these groups.
The MSBOA All-State program was established in the 2005-06 school year by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association. MSBOA has been serving the instrumental music teachers and students of our State for over 77 years. They proudly represent over 1,200 public, parochial and private schools and over 1,600 instrumental music teachers in Michigan. MSBOA continues to follow the mission of its founders, to provide quality musical experiences for the students of our member schools.
In addition to the All-State musicians noted above, a huge congratulations goes to violin player Nikolas Simon (Grade 9), who recently won the Michigan Teachers National Association, Michigan Performance Competition. Bravo to Nikolas on this prestigious achievement!
Congratulations to these wonderful musicians and to all who auditioned for this exceptional honor and achievement. We are proud that they represent the Bloomfield Hills Schools and the Bloomfield Hills community.
