Eastover Eagles SOAR into the School Year
Eastover Elementary School recently held their very first all-school assembly for this school year. Students and staff gathered in the gymnasium to learn about and celebrate SOAR, their Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework. PBIS is a proactive approach schools use to promote positive behavior, focusing on prevention, not punishment. SOAR, which is specific to Eastover, stands for Self-Control, On-Task, Acceptance, and Respect.
Principal Harleen Singh was overjoyed to see the students engaging in the assembly. “It was so wonderful to be all together and even more exciting to have Ernie the Eagle join us! It was wild, rowdy, and wonderful!” They sang the SOAR song and learned all about what it means to SOAR. As part of the exercise, teachers had their students sign a “feather” to commit to the SOAR pledge.
