Innovation in Sustainability Award
Congratulations to Marianne Romsek, Food Service Director, for winning ARAMARK’s Innovation in Sustainability Award for the Midwest region!
Marianne Romsek is truly an innovator as she is continuously improving processes, and coming up with strategies to best serve the students in Bloomfield Hills Schools. Romsek has been successful at keeping sustainability and farm-to-school initiatives in place. “I was awarded a grant that helped to fund $15,000 of the Michigan produce we purchased this year which enabled me to provide more than $35,000 in Michigan foods to our community."
Romsek purchased paper boxes instead of foam boxes to package meals during the pandemic. “We needed to make this switch to keep our promise to the community to move towards a more sustainable program,” shares Romsek.
The coordinated efforts of BHS food services during the past two school years to ensure all families have access to healthy meals has been remarkable. Thank you to Ms. Romsek and the foodservice staff on behalf of the BHS community!
