Meet Officer Marisa Miller: Serving BHS as School Security Officer
Bloomfield Township Police Officer Marisa Miller is a familiar face around Bloomfield Hills Schools. As the BHS School Security Officer, Miller works closely with administration and teachers in implementing safety and security training and maintaining security in all buildings.
Officer Miller was assigned to the position in August 2021. The job consists of conducting assessments of current departments and school policies, communicating with administrators on policies, and practicing routine security checks at all district buildings. Much of her time is spent checking in at the schools and forming connections with students and staff and the main goal is working on security and prevention.
After joining the El Paso Police Department back in 2002, Officer Miller has spent the last 15 years with the Bloomfield Township Police Department working in the patrol section as a crime scene reporter. Now, as the official School Security Officer for BHS, Officer Miller responds quickly to any incidents in our schools and works closely with administration.
“I don’t do my job just because it’s my career,'' said Officer Miller. “This is my passion, heart, and soul. My main goal is to make the staff and kids feel safe and happy to be at school.”
As both a mother and police officer, Officer Miller feels passionately about her position. While maintaining the highest standards on the job, all interactions with students are done the way Officer Miller would want other law enforcement personnel to interact with her own children. Officer Miller is proud to be a part of the Bloomfield Hills Schools team!
