One District, One Book is designed to create a shared reading experience within the school community. Families will receive a free book provided by The Bloomfield Twp. Public Library and supported by our PTO. In collaboration with the West Bloomfield Twp. Public Library, an author event will be provided!
Families will read the chosen book at home. On March 2, 2026 the secret title will be revealed! Students will receive a special package. It will contain a copy of the book, a calendar of events, and some fun activities.
Principals, teachers, all staff members and bus drivers will also join in the reading fun! Home reading will take about 15 minutes (or less) a day to read! In school, children will be invited to answer trivia questions to encourage attentive listening. In class and at home, there will be opportunities for book related activities and discussions. Activities at school will reinforce and enrich the shared reading experience. Each grade level will participate in a unique learning experience during their media lessons.
In addition to reading the story, other fun opportunities are planned for our families during the month. Please read the enclosed calendar of special events to find out more about the events and enrichment activities. We’d love for you to participate in as many ways as you are able, making this a true community experience!
One District, One Book is a novel program since children in all grades will be listening to the same book. Reading professionals recommend reading aloud to children even if the text is above their reading level. We have selected a title that can be understood and enjoyed by all children.
This program would not be possible without the support of the Bloomfield Twp. Public Library, The West Bloomfield Twp. Public Library and our PTOs!
