School Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

School Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Dear Elementary school Families,

We are sending out this information to let you know about the Michigan School Meals program and to clarify whether your child will qualify for free meals during the 2024-25 school year in Bloomfield Hills Schools. Michigan School Meals is a state-funded reimbursement program that will be providing all preK4 through grade 12 students in our district free meals throughout the 2024-25 school year. All lunches will include grains, proteins, fruits, vegetables and milk. Breakfasts will include grains and/or proteins as the entrée served with fruits, juice and milk.

Although this benefit is available to all 4- to 26-year-olds who are enrolled in the Bloomfield Hills Schools, applications will still need to be filled out for families with students in this age group that qualify. For example, if your household size is 4 people, and your annual income is $57,720 or less, please apply. If your household size is 3 people, and your annual income is $47,767 or less, please apply. Click here to see all household sizes with the income. The updated benefit form that was previously used for Free or Reduced lunch pricing, is now called the Education Benefits form. Without this information, our district and families will lose important state funding for educational programs.

Please know that the Bloomfield Hills School has no intentions to decrease the quality of food or food choices because of this program.

To order breakfast in the elementary locations, please visit your school’s web page and click the “Student Meals” tab. Each school has its own breakfast form that needs to be filled out weekly for your child. Lunches are ordered in the morning in your child’s classroom. Please scan and return the Education Benefits form to foodservices@bloomfield.org if you have a student that may qualify to start receiving the many benefits the Bloomfield Hills Schools has to offer!
