Superintendent Rick West Celebrates March is Reading Month with Students

Superintendent Rick West has been busy sharing his love of reading with students across Bloomfield Hills Schools in celebration of March is Reading Month. This month, he visited several elementary classrooms to read aloud to students, sparking discussions about favorite books and the joy of storytelling. The visits provided a special opportunity for students to engage with literacy in a fun and meaningful way.

A highlight of the month was the privilege of reading the final chapters of Odder, this year’s One District, One Book selection. Educators from across Bloomfield Hills Schools engaged in reading Odder with elementary students, and wrapping up the district-wide read with students was a special moment for West.

In addition to his classroom visits, Superintendent West hosted a Reading with the Superintendent event at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. Families gathered as he read books about spring, bringing seasonal stories to life. After the reading, children enjoyed creating spring-themed crafts, making for a memorable and engaging afternoon.

March is Reading Month is a wonderful time to highlight the importance of literacy, and Superintendent West’s involvement reflects the district’s commitment to fostering a love of reading in students of all ages.
