Tech Triumphs: BHS Elementary and Middle School Robotics Season Highlights

After a season of hard work and dedication, robotics teams in grades 4 through 8 ended the regular season at regional competitions, showcasing their designs and vying for points in a programmable robot challenge. Bloomfield Hills Schools is proud to share that three BHS teams qualified for state championship events based on their performance.

State Championship Teams:

  • South Hills Middle School Team 14790: Coding Cobras - competed at the Michigan FTC State Championship-SE in Grand Blanc, December 12-14 
    • Team members: Collin Burek, Elliot Hachlinski, Deven Mehta, Shaan Mehta, Adelyn Moyer, Owen Moyer, Alex Pulliam, Nheelsreesh Vishnu Sundherram
    • Earned 1st place Design Award at States
    • Also earned 1st place Control Award and Finalist Alliance Captain at the regional qualifier event
  • South Hills Middle School Team 14791: Galactic Gears - competed in the Michigan FTC State Championship-NW in Muskegon, December 11-13
    • Team members: Finn Acosta, Caleb Dein, Rekha Guha, Andrew Hopkins, Gabriella Hopkins, Jayson Kumar, Ritwik Malhotra, Michael Sasena 
    • Finished 9th overall at States 
    • Also earned 2nd place Inspire Award at the regional qualifier event
  • Conant Elementary School Team 3549: Robotic Ruins - will be competing in the Michigan Championship event on December 20 in Mason, MI
    • Team members: Alice Cipolla, Caleb Cunningham, Olivia McEvilly, Zoya Rashid, James Sackin, Stefan Stricescu
    • Named ThunderQuest Playoff Champion at the regional qualifier event
    • Also secured 2nd place in the Champions Award at the regional qualifier event

In addition to those advancing to the state competitions, several other BHS teams walked away with major awards at regional events.

  • North Hills Middle School Team FTC 10035: Robo Rangers
    • Team members: Amit Bhattiprolu, Juan Andres Vicenzi Carrau, Julian Ibrahim, Laksh Jain, Maizy Moore, Brayson Selvaraj, Grace Zhou, Leo Zhou
    • Earned 1st place Design Award & 2nd place Reach Award
  • North Hills Middle School Team FTC 12876: intergalacTECH
    • Team members: Shawn Ding, Oak Holoweski, Asahi Ishihara, Quinton Jones, Arjun Kalagara, Luke Krawiec, Arnav Paike, Rishwant Srinivasan, Carter Sundin
    • Earned 1st place Design Award
  • South Hills Middle School Team FTC 7047: Mechanical Monkeys
    • Team members: Louis Alanis, Rishi Bhagat, Alexander Borchenko, William Gao, Neil Grinboim, William Sheils, John Skinner, Kenneth Thompson
    • Earned 1st place Think Award
  • Conant Team 38849: Snacks & Gears Engineers
    • Team Members: Sadie Doerr, Graham Devine, Cal Haigh, Ashton McQueen-Watson, Bryson McQueen-Watson, Natasha Somesula, Vincent Wilson
    • Earned 1st place Innovation Project Award
  • South Hills Middle School Team FTC 14788: Tech Titans
    • Team members: Theo Deinlein, Matis DeLeSalle, Isabella Ersan, Grace Janicki, Xavier Nabwangu, Alex Nicoghosian, Benjamin Weiss, Rebecca Weiss, Margaret Wong
    • Earned 2nd place Connect Award and 2nd place Think Award
  • Lone Pine Team 17981: Techno Bananas
    • Team Members: Jonas Billings, Brody Barouch, Brody Dowgiallo, Sofia Gleyal, Andrew Hamp, Tilly Katz, Jacob Lafer, Robert Nelson, Emmet Piet, Shlok Salecha
    • Earned 3rd place Core Values Award
