Welcome Back Celebration a Great Success!
Thanks to the organization and collaboration of our PTO Council, Bloomfield Hills School administrators and staff, and a multitude of community partners, the outdoor Welcome Back Celebration on August 27 was a great success! Students and their families from across all our schools came together at the Bloomfield Hills High School Legacy Courtyard and Model Center driveway to celebrate the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. Some of the features included: a Dunk Tank hosted by the PTOC; a climbing wall hosted by Oakland County Parks and Recreation; Carnival Games hosted by the elementary school PTOs; Games and Raffles hosted by the middle school PTOs; Football themed games hosted by the BHHS PTO; airbrush tattoos and henna hosted by the PTIA; a Photo Booth hosted by Wing Lake School; Animal Experiences hosted by Bowers School Farm; Archery hosted by the E.L. Johnson Nature Center; performances by Oakland Rhythmic Gymnastics, the BHHS Marching Band and the BHHS Poms teams; BHS Robotics team showcases; game shows from the BBCC; “Touch a Truck” hosted by the Bloomfield Township; and table exhibits from the Bloomfield Township Library, the BYA, and the BHS Foundation. The event was supported by a variety of community sponsors, including Ascension, Argus Logistics, Oakland County Parks & Recreation, Eventive Studios, and CrossFit Bloomfield. Many thanks to the partners, volunteers, and sponsors who helped to make this event come to fruition!
A giant thank you also goes to the Welcome Back Celebration Committee, and the two co-chairs, Angel Lau and Erin Watson, for their work to coordinate this first-time ever community event! Lau and Watson share, “Our hope is that this celebration warmly welcomed our students and families into the new school year, helped ease anxiety during this time of transition, and created a space for them to reconnect and have fun with friends. We firmly believe that connected communities build resilient children and are thankful for the tremendous support from our committee members, school district, community partners, and sponsors who worked together to make this event possible for our school community.” Our community is grateful for this wonderful welcome to the 2021-22 school year!
