Winter Sports Season Wrap-Up
The Bloomfield Hills varsity boys basketball team finished their season with a league championship and competed in the district semifinals against Brother Rice.
Congratulations to the varsity girls basketball team for their awesome season, shared league championship, and district championship. The team played with heart and dedication until the regional semifinals, making it the longest season for girls basketball in Black Hawk history! Ashley Forner (grade 12) scored her 1000th career point in her final game!
The unified basketball team played a lively game against the Lake Orion Dragons in front of a roaring BHHS crowd during UMatter week.
The boys and girls bowling teams ended the season on a high note! The teams fought hard all year and showed some incredible improvement. The future for Black Hawk bowling is bright! Look for an announcement coming soon about a meeting for anyone interested in bowling next school year. Go Black Hawks!
The figure skating team finished an impressive 4th in the state, with three students winning the state championship in the spin event: Noa Gendelman (grade 10), Evelyn Keough (grade 10) and Sydnee Lefief (grade 10.)
The gymnastics team finished in third place at the league championships impressing future Black Hawks who attended their community night and congratulations to Mia Bragman (grade 11) and Sophia Cooperman (grade 10) for making it to the state championships.
The boys hockey team captured a league championship after beating Troy 7-0! We look forward to seeing what the team does next season.
The girls hockey team had a successful season despite only returning five players from last year's state championship team. After a slow start, the team rallied and finished 7-3-1 over the last 11 league games. Two of our players, Birdie Parker (grade 11) and Lily Ehmann (grade 11) received all-state recognition.
BHHS skiers competed at the regional championships and the girls qualified for the state championships and finished in 8th place. Nice job, skiers!
The boys swim & dive team finished the OAA season tied for 3rd place, and sent 7 swimmers to the state meet. The 200 medley relay: Seif Elbaradey (grade 9), Jaden Solomon (grade 12), Brendan Champoux (grade 12), Miles Marx (grade 9) – placed 28th, the 400 freestyle relay – Victor Malinski (grade 9), Jieming Gan (grade 11), Charlie Antone (grade 10), Miles Marx – placed 19th. Those competing in individual events: Charlie Antone – 500 freestyle (39th), Seif Elbaradey – 500 freestyle (41st), Victor Malinski – 500 freestyle (31st) & Miles Marx – 50 freestyle (18th) & 100 freestyle (24th).
Boys wrestling qualified 6 wrestlers for the regional finals. Kanata Richardson (grade 10,) the first female Black Hawk wrestler went to the state finals and earned 4th place! Congrats, Kanata!
