BHS Welcomes New BHHS AP

After a rigorous interview process, Mr. Jason Ohrt joined BHHS as their new associate principal. 

“I am very excited to be joining the Black Hawk community as one of your associate principals!,” said Mr. Ohrt. “It is truly an honor to have been chosen by such an invested group of students, staff, stakeholders, and administration.”

Mr. Ohrt comes to BHS from Avondale Middle School where he has served as Principal for the past two years. Before that, he spent four years as an Assistant Principal at Fraser High School, where he was nominated for the Michigan Association of Secondary School Assistant Principal of the Year award. He also served as assistant principal at Warren Woods Tower High School. 

Mr. Ohrt shares: “In my 15+ years of administrative experiences, one of my greatest strengths and joys is making connections, building relationships, and learning the culture of a school - this will be one of my first goals this year.”

Mr. Ohrt earned a Bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University, while also receiving a football scholarship and playing football at the college level. He continued his education with a Post Bachelor’s Certification in Health Education from Wayne State, earned a Master’s degree in Education Leadership (Principalship) from Saginaw Valley State University, and also achieved a Master’s Certificate in Human Resources Management from Central Michigan University.
