Managing Communicable Diseases in Schools

Managing Communicable Diseases in Schools

Students are back in our buildings, which means that it’s time for learning, making new friends, and Fall illnesses. As a reminder, Oakland County Health Division and MDHHS requires us to report communicable diseases and conditions. Flu-like illness, Stomach virus, Unspecified illnesses and cases of Covid-19 are to be reported as part of a building’s weekly aggregate counts through the Oakland County Health & Human Services Portal (HHSCP).

With the requirement to report, we are asking that parents/guardians and staff complete the Notify the Nurse form to report student and staff cases of Covid-19 and other diagnosed communicable diseases.  Buildings may continue to report flu like illness, unspecified illnesses and stomach virus conditions independently.

BHS continues to be in alignment with the OCHD and the MDHHS as it pertains to school health. I encourage our staff and families to visit the BHS Health and Wellness page for additional information and reach out to reach out to the District RN with any health concerns.
