Meet the Elementary Program Consultants

Kathy Janelle, Amanda Melymuka, Michelle Parks, and Jenny Rossi are not new faces to Bloomfield Hills Schools, but have taken on a new position within the district: Elementary Program Consultants! The role of the program consultant is to support and lead building efforts around social-emotional learning and overall student wellness. Partnering with staff, building principals, and families, the consultants support school-wide restorative cultures and offer responsive classroom-level behavior support. This role also leads efforts related to focus areas in mathematics, literacy, and overall instructional design. 

Amanda Melymuka’s district role is Literacy and is located at Eastover Elementary. Amanda started her career in education 13 years ago at Lone Pine as a student teacher, and the next year took a classroom teacher position at Eastover. Amanda and her husband stay busy with three young children, Avery, Brody and Stella, and two dogs, Omar and Pretzel. Amanda also teaches at Oakland University in the Science Department. In her free time, Amanda enjoys traveling up north, reading a good book, watching Netflix, and hot yoga.

Kathy Janelle’s role focuses on Instructional Design for grades 3-5 and is located at Lone Pine Elementary. Kathy’s career started in Bloomfield Hills 20 years ago at Lone Pine teaching grades 2 and 5. Kathy has also held the position of IB Coordinator at Lone Pine and West Hills, and teacher leader and instructional coach at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. Kathy considers herself playful and curious, and enjoys a variety of hobbies and spending time with family and friends. With 3 children, including a set of twins, Kathy loves reading and traveling to their family cottage on the west side of the state. Kathy can often be seen trying to juggle and make balloon animals at adult and children’s parties!

Jenny Rossi assists with K-2 Instructional Design and is located at Way Elementary. Way has been Jenny’s home away from home for the past 26 years. Jenny has held many positions at Way including teaching grades 3 and 4, Visible Thinking Coordinator, and Instructional Coach. Jenny’s “given” hobby is being a chauffeur and cheerleader for her 3 children at soccer, basketball, and baseball and “chosen” hobbies include gardening, running, and secretly playing Candy Crush, and watching General Hospital after everyone has gone to bed. Jenny’s family also includes a career changed leader dog named Poco. 

Michelle Parks leads Math for the district and is located at Conant Elementary. Michelle made a career change from Marketing to education and taught in Chicago and Denver before returning home to Bloomfield Hills, where she grew up. Michelle has taught grades 4 and 5 at East Hills since 2017. Along with spending time with her daughter, family, and friends, Michelle enjoys running, photography, attempting to cook and hopes to complete her bucket list of traveling to other countries soon.
