MPSERS 3% Healthcare Reimbursement

Public school employees who were hired prior to 9/4/12 and made the election to continue to pay the 3% for Premium Subsidy healthcare in 2013 and beyond will qualify for reimbursement.  Those employees who were hired after 9/4/12 or who did not elect to continue to contribute will not qualify for the reimbursement. This new reimbursement does not apply to employees with the Personal Healthcare Fund or retirees who have returned to work.

Bloomfield Hills Schools will continue to withhold and remit the contributions as usual through September 30, 2025.  Reimbursements will occur during the period starting October 1, 2024 and ending September 30, 2025 (the State's fiscal year).  

We will begin to reimburse eligible employees starting with the upcoming January 17, 2025 paycheck.  Employees will also receive a reimbursement of deductions withheld from the period October 1, 2024 through January 3, 2025 on the January 17, 2025 paycheck.  These reimbursements will be taxable.  Employees with the premium subsidy healthcare benefit will no longer be required to contribute 3% toward future healthcare benefits beginning October 1, 2025.  At that time, the 3% premium will no longer be taken from your check.
