BHS Developmental Kindergarten through Fifth Grade teachers gathered at Bowers School Farm on Tuesday morning to engage in professional learning focused on science and social studies teaching and learning. Teachers took on the role of National Geographic journalists to investigate how living things prepare for winter in Michigan, from the horse barn to log cabin, to live into research-based instructional moves that enhance student outcomes.
Teachers investigated the properties of wool, straw, and hay, tasted radishes in the garden, explored the root cellar, log cabin, and farmhouse, and took in the beauty of the forest on a sunny fall day.
