Welcome Julie Gutman, Anne Evans, and Mike Van Camp

Bloomfield Hills Schools welcomes three new staff members to the administrative team. Two part-time interim Special Education Directors will be supporting the Special Education Department. Working together, Julie Gutman will oversee elementary and Anne Evans will oversee secondary. Also joining BHS is Mike Van Camp as Interim Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

Julie Gutman boasts a remarkable career devoted to transforming the lives of students with disabilities. Over her 31 years of service, Julie held various leadership and consulting roles in education, culminating in her position as Special Education Administrator for 20 years. She was known for her unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student received an equitable and successful education regardless of their abilities. Julie championed numerous initiatives that promoted growth and accessibility in education. She was pivotal in developing and implementing programs that provided tailored support to students with disabilities, empowering them to thrive academically and socially. Her expertise extended beyond the classroom, as she collaborated with educators, parents, and community stakeholders to create a supportive network for students with disabilities.

Anne Evans has dedicated her career to serving students with disabilities and their families. With a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Michigan State University, she began teaching students with cognitive impairments in Pontiac Public Schools. Anne furthered her education with a Master's Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University, working as a school social worker in Pontiac and West Bloomfield Schools. Completing the Education Specialist program in Special Education Administration at Wayne State University, she then served as the Director in Clarkston Schools and eventually as the Special Education Director in Rochester Community Schools until her retirement in 2019. In her leisure time, Anne enjoys quality moments with her grandchildren, long-distance cycling, and volunteering for Make-A-Wish.

Mike Van Camp currently serves as the Associate Executive Director for The Metro Bureau. Mike retired from L’Anse Creuse Public Schools in 2019, concluding his tenure as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. His extensive career includes roles as a Middle School Principal in L’Anse Creuse, a High School Principal in Royal Oak, and various Assistant Principal positions, along with teaching Social Studies in Midland. Complementing his professional achievements, Mike plays a crucial role as a University Supervisor for Student Teachers at both Oakland University and Central Michigan University. His wealth of experience and diverse background make him a valuable addition to the Bloomfield Hills Schools' leadership team.
