About the SSAB

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board (SSAB) provides leadership opportunities for high school students (grades 10-12), while also advising the superintendent and district leadership in key areas concerning student experience.

Purpose & Mission

The SSAB serves as a bridge between students and administration, providing a meaningful platform for students to share their perspectives and contribute to shaping the future of Bloomfield Hills Schools. This advisory board empowers students to be active participants in district-wide conversations, ensuring that student experiences, insights, and ideas are thoughtfully reflected in decision-making.

Opportunities & Impact

Through monthly meetings, SSAB members will:

  • Engage directly with Superintendent Rick West and district leaders to discuss key issues impacting students.
  • Represent and elevate student perspectives by sharing insights from their school communities.
  • Collaborate on initiatives and projects that enhance the student experience and support district priorities.
  • Develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while working alongside peers and district leaders.

The SSAB is a unique opportunity for students to have an authentic voice in their education and contribute to meaningful district-wide conversations. By fostering open communication and collaboration, SSAB members play an important role in shaping a district that is responsive to student needs, experiences, and aspirations.
