Indeed, as many of us reflect upon our own learning, the task of filling in a little circle on a piece of paper with a pencil was not something we recall eliciting joy. Fast forward to today’s learning experiences and the act of sitting for a standardized test is still not the most exciting moment of a student’s week.

Last spring, our country reeled from yet another horrific incident in a school. The sadness and anger I felt that day weighed heavily for a long time. Our children deserve to feel totally and utterly safe and secure at school and it is our job to continually review our safety measures and improve them as necessary.

The decision to close school is never an easy one and this morning’s closure was no different.  The decision to close school today, January 16, 2019, actually began earlier yesterday, when we were alerted by our local weather authority of the chance of freezing rain and terrible morning road conditions.
