On February 16, 2017, the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education approved the demolition of the North half of the Lahser building. This section of the building was found, through the extensive Master Property Planning (MPP) Process, to have no future use for the district. The demolition is scheduled to begin after asbestos abatement completes at the end of February. Demolition is anticipated to be completed by June 1st. Field access will be uninterrupted and programs that occupy the South half have been notified.
The demolition of the North half will create wonderful summer grass space for families to enjoy, while the district continues to brainstorm the overall plan of the site.
